Richard Earl Jarrett

March 6, 1945 — October 15, 2011

Richard Earl "Dick" Jarrett, Jr., 66, of York, a gentle man with big hands and a big heart, went to be with his Savior, October 15, 2011. Dick was employed for many years as a lathe operator at David Edward Limited in Red Lion, where he enjoyed the comradeship with other employees. Dick enjoyed sports, and baseball was his favorite, and he listened to games on his transistor radio as a young man. He also loved playing volleyball with his family. As he grew older he became involved with bowling. His favorite place to bowl was East Lincoln Lanes between Hallem and Wrightsville, where he almost bowled a perfect "300" game. The table game he enjoyed the most is "Carrom". He also enjoyed singing, and "How Great Thou Art" was his favorite. Dick did not ask for much in this life, he just wanted someone to care about, and someone to care about him. He loved being allowed to call Kathryn Strickhouser his "daughter", and he greatly loved the care she showed for him and his ex-wife Donna. He loved helping her, and considered this very important in his life. Dick was a man of simple understanding. He was also a man of simple faith. He knew that Jesus was his Savior. Dick is survived by ten brothers and sisters, Ronald Frey, Henrietta Jane Baker, Sandy Warfel, Linda Heller, Jackie Boener, Pam Dotson, Cheryl Jarrett, Melanie Seiple, Bob Jarrett, Renneth Jarrett, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Heilig Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy, on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be private. There will a time of visitation with the family on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
