Nora L. Erb

Nora L. Erb, 88, of Manheim went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. Born in East Lampeter Township, she was the daughter of the late Aaron B. and Anna L. Landis. After graduating from Strasburg High School, Nora was employed by PP&L for several years. Nora was the loving wife of Howard S. Erb with whom she shared 67 years of married life. Nora and Howard began farming in 1943. She was a member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church and active in the Sewing Circle. She helped her husband as a former trustee of the church. They also served on the Cemetery Board. Nora was a faithful volunteer at the Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nora was an excellent quilter and made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Carolyn, wife of Menno Heisey of Winchester, VA and Ruth Ann, wife of James Nolt of Mount Joy; three sons, James, husband of Joan Forrey Erb of Manheim, Richard, husband of Grace Zimmerman of Elizabethtown, and Leslie Erb of Des Moines, WA; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Christ Landis of Ronks, and a sister, Bertha L. Hurst of Lititz. Nora was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna L. Hershey and Mary L. Deiter; and four brothers, Benjamin, Aaron, Sanford, and John Landis. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastors Robert and Luann Yutzy officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing on Monday evening at the church from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with additional viewing on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nora's memory may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125; Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop, 413 W. Main St., Mount Joy, PA 17552; or the Mutual Aid Fund, c/o East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, PA 17520.
