Morris L. Ressler

December 14, 1926 — November 26, 2012

Morris L. Ressler, 85, of Manheim, passed away at home surrounded by his family and was reunited with his bride in heaven on Monday, November 26, 2012. Born in Marietta, he was the son of the late Morris and Dorothy Landis Ressler. Morris was the loving husband of the late Ruth Engle Ressler who died in June of this year. From 1984 to 2011 he and his wife owned and operated Quilts R Us Manheim, and together they made over 3,000 quilts. Previously, Morris helped at many area markets and worked as a manager for over twenty years for Richard Carper Meats. Morris farmed in Chester County area for over fifteen years. In his early years he was employed as a carpenter for Chris Kennel in the Parkesburg area. Morris was a faithful member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim. He was superintendant of the Mount Vernon Mennonite Church. Morris spent many hours volunteering for Gideons International. He enjoyed traveling and taking his grandchildren on Camping adventures. Surviving are five sons, James L. husband of Penny Nichols Ressler, Richard E. husband of Linda Ella Ressler both of Wasilla, Alaska, Marlin R. husband of Sherry Dukeman Ressler of Mount Joy, Ron L. husband of Nancy Peters Ressler of Manheim and Melvin W. husband of Michelle Driver Ressler of Gloucester, Virginia, a daughter, Marlene J. wife of Earl Martin Jr. of Manheim, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a brother, David Ressler of Ephrata. Preceding him in death are three sisters, Dorothy Ressler, Mary Ressler, Blanche Ressler and a brother, John Ressler. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Hernley Mennonite Church, 746 Lebanon Road, Manheim, on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:30 PM. Interment is in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
