Michael J. Sites

Michael J. Sites, 61, of Manheim, formerly of Lititz, passed away on March 26, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Well-known and respected in the local music community, and beloved by his family and friends, some of whom shared a lifetime of adventure and memories, Mike leaves all with heavy hearts, but inspired by his simple, honest appreciation of life, which allowed him to truly live life to its fullest.

A professional musician for more than 40 years, Mike is known as the guitarist and vocalist for Southstreet since 1985, and with Crossroads in the 70's and 80's. On stage, he was a vibrant, engaging performer who could fill a dance floor, while off-stage, he was friendly, open, laid back and accepting of everyone. He possessed a unique combination of traits: he was a dedicated, conscientious hard worker, but it was his creative and adventurous spirit for which he was known. He was a talented musician, whose primary passion was the guitar, but he wouldn’t hesitate to experiment with a harmonica, flute, or other instrument to add a new dynamic to their live performances.

His curiosity and taste for adventure extended to his other passion, maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. He was a near-daily attendee at Tim’s Fitness Center in Lititz, he loved fishing in the Florida Keys, and was commonly seen walking his dog Pearl around his neighborhood. He was SCUBA-certified, and enjoyed swimming and kayaking with his partner of 10 years, his wife Deb. Mike simply loved being in, on and near the water.
Mike was a respected member of the Client Computing Team at Armstrong World Industries, a career spanning 14 years, where he cultivated many friendships thanks to his pleasant, can-do attitude, his endless energy, and his dedication to his work.

Surviving is his wife Deborah, two step daughters: Tracy Walton of Lancaster, Trish wife of Jon McCune of Leola, two step grandchildren: Giuliana Walton, Andrew McCune, and his Westie Dog, Pearl.
