Lloyd G. Flory

August 18, 1925 — August 10, 2012

Lloyd G. Flory, 86, of Lititz passed away at home on Friday, August 10, 2012. Born in Penn Township, he was the son of the late Abram K. Sr. and Florence C. Garman Flory. He was the husband of Maxine Mellott Flory and they celebrated 64 years of marriage in December of last year. In his early years, Lloyd delivered milk from the family farm, Mountain Valley Dairy. He drove truck for Hatfield, Howmet and Alcoa. Lloyd also hauled cattle at the former Hostetter's and operated his own lawn mower service. His interests included gardening, lawn mowing, listening to Bluegrass music, woodworking and traveling to his cabin in the mountains. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his Beagle dogs. Lloyd also enjoyed tractors, particularly his antique John Deere, where he would take them to antique shows. He loved to spend time with his family; especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Judy wife of John K. Moyer Sr. of Annville, Nancy wife of William P. Brenner Jr. of Manheim, Jo Ann wife of Jay T. Zimmerman Sr. of Reinholds, 14 grandchildren, John Moyer Jr., Tonya Martin, Tammy Byers, Jay Zimmerman, Jennifer Zimmerman Oberholtzer, Tiffany Brenner and James Zimmerman, Jayme, Jade, Jessica, Jason, Josh, Joe and Judy Zimmerman, 9 great grandchildren, Sierra, Hannah and Jake Zimmerman, Emma and Amanda Oberholtzer,, Julia Sevilla, Ava Zimmerman and Madelyn and Abigail Byers, one brother, Abram husband of Grace Rohrer Flory of Lititz and two sisters, Betty wife of the late Ernie Nissley of Lancaster and Florence Mae Flory of California. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Stauffer and Kathryn Auker. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at White Oak Church of the Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
