Lester S. Wenger

Lester S. Wenger, 81, of Rapho Street Manheim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital after a long courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. Born in Berks County, he was the son of the late John N. and Phoebe Sensenig Wenger. He was the husband of Mary Jane Stauffer Wenger and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May of this year. A life long dairy farmer, Lester owned and operated his farm in Rapho Township. Lester also worked at the Manheim Auto Auction for thirty-two years. He was an active member of Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim. Lester loved to spend time with his family and he enjoyed singing and listening to music. He sang in several chorus groups and quartets.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Linda S. wife of Edwin L. Bentzel and June F. wife of Clair E. Nolt both of Manheim; four grandchildren, Angela and Bobbi Bentzel, Janelle and Jeffrey Nolt; five brothers, Melvin husband of Jeanette Wenger, Earl husband of Rose Wenger, John husband of Esther Wenger, Irvin husband of Janet Wenger, Ivan husband of Nancy Wenger; five sisters, Irene wife of Harry Zimmerman, Miriam wife of John Arbaugh, Phoebe Ann wife of Melvin Sensenig, Esther wife of Donald Gingrich and Lois wife of Leon Sensenig. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Wenger and a sister, Ruth Weaver.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Erisman Mennonite Church 8 South Erisman Road Manheim on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
