Leo L.'Lee' Schmidt

November 14, 1940 — February 4, 2010

Leo L. Lee Schmidt, 69, of Lancaster passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz after a brief illness. Born in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Leo and Esther Lehman Schmidt. Lee was the husband of Joanne C. Carlton Schmidt and they celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary in October 2009. A 1958 graduate of John Harris High School, Harrisburg, he also attended Penn State University. Lee worked for M&T Bank, Lancaster as Vice President of commercial banking for twenty years and also worked at the Fulton Bank, Gap, PA. He was a member of the Slumbering Ground Hog Lodge and the American Legion, Post 603, both of Quarryville. Lee enjoyed coaching the Willow Street Wolverines Midget Football Team. An avid Penn State Football fan, he also enjoyed the ocean at the Outer Banks and fresh seafood.
Also surviving is his first wife, Maxine Benner of Leola and five children, Jeffrey Schmidt of Lancaster, Beth McMahon of Hatfield, Steven Schmidt of East Norriton, Jennifer Tyson of Okinawa, Japan, Gregory Cooper of Lancaster, nine grandchildren and one sister, Betty Willis of Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Fox.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 7:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
