John R. Miller

John R. Miller, 79, of Mount Joy, entered into Eternal Life on Wednesday, August 17, 2011. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Claudette M. Zeller Miller. He was the son of the late John D. and Gladys B. Miller. John graduated from the former Mount Joy High School in 1951. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Fire Department of Mount Joy for 61 years, and he was a letter carrier at the Mount Joy Post Office until his retirement in 1983. John attended Stevens Hill Community Church of the Brethren, Elizabethtown. In addition to his wife are two daughters, Stacy wife of Don Hontz of Manheim, and Marty wife of Tom Daggett of Bainbridge. His grandchildren, Shawn and Shelby Hontz, Casey, Trent, and Kelly Daggett brought great joy to his life. Also surviving is a sister Delores Yurkovic and a brother Gerald Miller. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Stevens Hill Community Church of the Brethren, 3131 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown PA 17022. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers, contributions in John's memory may be sent to Stevens Hill Community Church of the Brethren, or to the Fire Department of Mount Joy, 111 New Haven Street, Mount Joy PA 17552.
