Jean W. Herr, 83, formerly of Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz died of natural causes on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Landis Homes, Lititz.
Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Jessie Coulter Woodward. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Herr Sr. who died on October 3, 2005. Jean worked for Lukens Steel Corp., Coatesville, Woodstream Corp., Lititz, former Morgan Paper Co., Lititz and Packaging Corp. of America, Lancaster. She also worked for the family business at Slip Industries, Inc., Manheim. Jean was a 1945 graduate of Scott High School, Coatesville and a member of Lititz Moravian Church. Her interests included sewing, knitting, swimming and traveling; especially to Cancun, Mexico with her family. Jean loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Jean wife of Thomas Ludwig of Manheim, Charyl H. Dommel of East Petersburg, a son, Charles A. Jr. husband of Debra Drey Herr of Lititz, seven grandchildren, Steven husband of Coley Ludwig, Samuel husband of Cathy Dommel, Andrew Dommel, Jeffrey husband of Amanda Ludwig, Charles III husband of LeTrisha Herr, Adam husband of Lauren Dommel and Chelsey Herr and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Clinton K. Dommel, a sister, Marian Helms and three brothers, Benton Jr., John and Charles Woodward.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Stephen R. Hess officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
