Jean S. Metzler

October 31, 1928 — March 29, 2018

Jean S. Metzler, 89, of Manheim passed away peacefully at Pleasant View Retirement Community on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Born in Mount Joy, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Katie Snavely Hollinger. She was the loving wife of the late Eugene K. Metzler who died in 2014. Jean was a homemaker and active, faithful member of Erisman Mennonite Church. She volunteered in the nursery, various children’s programs and as a Sunday school teacher. Her interests included board games, puzzles, reading, cooking, playing the piano and sewing. Most of all, Jean loved to serve her family and spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are four children, K. Marlene wife of Gary L. Knode of Shippensburg, Darwin husband of Pat Hosler Metzler of Lititz, Gerald husband of Mary Stoudt Metzler of Harleysville, C. LeAnn wife of Rick Parmer of Manheim, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Russell Hollinger of Mount Joy, Donald husband of Alta Hollinger of Rothsville and a sister, Arlene wife of Chester Martin of McCordsville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Weaver.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Erisman Mennonite Church, 8 South Erisman Road, Manheim on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 6:30 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 5:30 PM until the time of service and immediately following the service. Interment will be private in Erisman Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Jean’s memory to Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Road, Lititz, PA 17543.
