Harold L. "Hal" Mountz

June 13, 1930 — April 4, 2016

Harold L. “Hal” Mountz, 85, of Lititz, died peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late, Harold L. Sr. and Mary Eckenroth Mountz. Hal was the loving husband of Inge L. Boehner Mountz and they observed their 16th wedding anniversary in February of this year. His first wife, Mary Jane Hartranft Mountz died in 1991. Hal worked as manager, and later served as vice president for G.R. Klinefelter Marine Underwriters, Ephrata; previously he was employed as a store manager for the former Arlan’s Department Store in Lancaster. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. A veteran, Hal served in the U.S. Marines. His memberships included: Ephrata Masonic Lodge 665, Reading Consistory, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, and Lancaster Power Squadron. Hal had a life-long interest and passion for boating; he was proud of receiving his captain’s boating license. Earlier in his life Hal enjoyed: hunting, fishing, photography. He will be lovingly missed by his beloved dog Flip.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Inge, are three daughters: Sharon Lynn Mountz of Lancaster, Julie Ann Mountz of Ephrata, Debra Dull of Ephrata, stepson, Hans Shore of Mount Joy, step daughter, Susan Frederick of Manheim, two grandchildren, Tiffany Baker, Jason Dull, two step grandchildren, Taylor and Robby Frederick, one great granddaughter, Alyssa Dull, a sister, Marcia wife of Barry Stamm of Allons, TN., two brothers, Mark husband of Maxine Mountz of Bethany Beach, DE., and Richard “Larry” husband of Delores Mountz of Ooltewah, TN. Preceding him in death is a son-in-law, Chester Dull, two brothers, Ronald and Leonard Mountz.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Hal’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
