Fred B. Zimmerman

Fred B. Zimmerman, 92, of Berwick, and formerly of Somerset County went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 5, 2011 at the Elmcroft Retirement Community in Berwick. Born in Quemahoning Township, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Lillie Kimmel Zimmerman. Fred worked as a truck driver for Agway Co. Lancaster retiring in 1984; previously he also drove truck for Johnstown Sanitary Dairy Co. from 1964 to 1974. In his early years Fred worked with his father on the family farm in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County for over 25 years. He was the loving husband of the late Jane Rodger Zimmerman who died in June of 2006. He was a member of Hooversville Church of the Brethren and attended Grace Church of Lititz. Fred was a member of the Summerset Masonic Lodge 358. He had a passion for working outdoors and enjoyed caring for his yard. Surviving are two daughters: Kitty Lee wife of the Reverend James E. Snavely of Bloomsburg, Connie Jane wife of David W. O'Dell of Lonoke, Ark., two grandchildren: Nathan husband of Jill Snavely, Lauri wife of Stephen W. Long, five great grandchildren: Benjamin, Gabriel, Emily Snavely and Shay S. and Alayna Long. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Fred is preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service at the Patriotic Order Sons of America Cemetery, Charles Street, Hooversville, PA on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend James E. Snavely officiating. There will be a viewing at the cemetery on Wednesday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
