Esther Jane Snyder

June 19, 1930 — April 23, 2017

Esther Jane Snyder, 86 of Lititz died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the United Zion Retirement Community. Full of style, an avid traveler and sensational cook, Jane lived an enjoyable life. She loved her family fiercely and it was her greatest joy to spend time with them.

Jane was born and grew up in Lancaster; she was the daughter of the late Richard and Esther Deverter Ferry. Jane was the loving wife of the late Ralph K. Snyder who died in 1999. She loved traveling around the country with her husband Ralph and enjoyed spending time in Vermont and in the Outer Banks with her family. Jane shared a deep connection with her two children, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Her family was the highlight of her life. Jane was a graduate of McCaskey High School and later worked many years as a technician for Hamilton Watch where she made lifelong friends. She attended Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. Jane was a crafty and creative artist and enjoyed selling her items at local craft shows. She and her best friend Sylvia Henry operated the former unique craft store called “Santa’s on the Vine” in Marietta. She also volunteered through the years with Meals on Wheels for the Lititz area.

Surviving is a son Barry T. husband of Nancy Hake Snyder of Lititz, a daughter, Jill R. Gehman of Lititz, three grandchildren: Amanda Gehman partner of Chris Schmid, Sarah Snyder fiancée of Daniel Meechan, Sean Snyder partner of Kelly Orr, and a brother, Richard husband of Roberta Ferry of Douglasville. Preceding her in death is a sister, June Fasnacht.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jane’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to: United Zion Retirement Community Caring Fund, 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. And above all, spend time with your family, love them and hold them close. Because that is how Jane lived and that is what she would wish for you.
