Ella B. High

Ella B. High, 98, formerly of Manheim, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Landis Homes Retirement Community, where she was a resident for over twenty years. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Michael Sauder and Anna Brackbill Sauder Groff. She was the loving wife of the late Elvin E. High who died in 2000.
A homemaker, Ella worked in her earlier years at the Bomberger’s Store in Elm and part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction. She was a member of Erb Mennonite Church, Lititz where she was involved with the sewing circle and she sang with the Joy Bells Group. Ella volunteered at Transport for Christ, Marietta and she enjoyed making comforters for the mission field and Pregnancy Centers. Her interests included gardening, traveling and she loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are four children, Cerwin R. husband of Doris Jean Hershey High, Velda M. wife of Melvin E. Rhoads both of Manheim, Elvin L. husband of Patti Pletcher High of Columbia, Doris A. wife of Robert B. Stauffer of Pennington, MN; 15 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and three brothers, John Sauder, Amos Sauder both of Lititz and Luke husband of WillaMae Sauder of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Thelma Jane High, great grandson, Elijah Myers, a brother, Aaron B. Sauder and three sisters, Alice Newswenger, Laura High and Naomi Martin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Erb Mennonite Church, 567 Lexington Road, Lititz on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at Landis Homes Retirement Community, WEST BETHANY CHAPEL, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz on Friday evening from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Saturday morning at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Ella’s memory to Transport for Christ, P.O.
