Edward R. Kauffman

November 9, 1926 — February 9, 2011

Edward R. Kauffman, 84, of Manheim, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 after a brief illness, at the Lebanon Veterans Medical Center Hospice facility.

Born in Mastersonville, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Elsie Ruhl Kauffman. Ed was a Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired after 57 years from the Bond Foundry Machine Company Manheim. Ed was the husband of the late Grace B. Seifert Kauffman, to whom he was married for 63 years. He recently celebrated 60 years of faithful and joyous membership at St. Pauls United Church of Christ, Manheim. He was a member of the Manheim Sportsman Club and was a passionate fan of St. Pauls United Church of Christ softball team and Manheim Central Barons football. Ed loved the great outdoors, fishing and hunting, and was a member of the Hemlock Haven Lodge, Potter County.
Surviving is a son, Randy S. husband of Diane Mensch Kauffmann, of Lititz, two grandchildren, Adam F. and Naomi R. Kauffman. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles W. Bud Kauffman, Richard V. Dick Kauffman, and two sisters: Ruth E. Toot Shelley and Deanne June Kauffman. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at St. Pauls United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 7:30 PM with the Reverend Dr. James W. Bright Jr. officiating. There will be a viewing at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Ruhls United Methodist Cemetery Rapho Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eds memory may be made to the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice, 1700 South Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042.
