Earl R. Shenk

November 13, 1930 — June 14, 2011

Earl R. Shenk, 80, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Jacob H. and Faye E. Rhoads Shenk. Earl was a life-long farmer and truck driver. He was the husband of Anna Mae Ober Shenk who died in July of 2008. Earl was a member of the West Green Tree Church of the Brethren Elizabethtown, and played with the church softball team in his early years. An avid bowler, Earl participated with the winter bowling leagues in Manheim. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and traveling to the family's hunting camp. He had a passion for his yard and enjoyed working outside his home. Surviving is a son, Barry E. husband of Cheryl Zurin Shenk of Mount Joy, a daughter, Sandra E. "Sis" Shenk of Ephrata, a daughter-in-law, Sandra J. Shenk of Manheim, five grandchildren: Kevin Shenk, Amy Shenk Eisenhower, Cassandra Shenk Stewart, Jason Shenk, Brett Shenk, two great grandchildren, three sisters: Esther wife of Richard Ruhl of Mount Joy, Elizabeth wife of Kenneth Ritchey, Arlene Horst all of Manheim, and a brother, Jacob H. Jr., husband of Nancy Shenk of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Preceding him in death is a son, Ronald E. Shenk, three sisters: Mildred Shenk, Verna Ebersole, Ruth Wenger, and a brother, Ralph Shenk. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Green Tree Road, Elizabethtown, on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM with his Pastor Kenneth A. Stewart officiating. Interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Columbia. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Earl's memory to the West Green Tree Church of the Brethren 740 Green Tree Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or Hospice of Lancaster County P. O.
