Dorothy M. Hostetter

September 26, 1921 — February 9, 2011

Dorothy M. Hostetter, 89, formerly of Manheim went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Conestoga View, Lancaster.

Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Schweger Spayd. Dorothy worked as a seamstress for the former B. and J., and Noggles Garment Factories Manheim; she also helped her husband on the family farm in Rapho Township. She was the loving wife of Clayton D. Hostetter who died in June of 1970. Dorothy was a member of Ruhls United Methodist Church, Manheim. Her interests included: cooking, baking, home sewing, crocheting; and she had a passion for bird watching especially blue jays and hummingbirds.
Surviving are four daughters: Shirley A. Rettew of Ephrata, Mary Jane wife of Paul Rettew of Manheim, Christine S. wife of Bryan Grumbine of Fredericksburg, Connie S. wife of James Gamble of Mount Joy, two sons: Kenneth husband of Deborah Hostetter and Gerald Hostetter all of Manheim, twenty-two grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and a sister, Gladys Spayd of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a son, Larry E. Hostetter, a daughter, Brenda M. Engle, two grandsons: Dale E Rettew, Brian Hostetter, two brothers: Robert and LeRoy Spayd ,and a sister, Esther Spayd Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Ruhls United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rob Timlin officiating. Interment is in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with additional viewing time on Monday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
