Darlene W. Rambler

January 24, 1932 — April 29, 2010

Darlene W. Rambler, 78, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.

Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Elwood B. and Elsie Weaver Myers. A homemaker, she was the loving wife of the late Lester F. Rambler who died in February of last year. She was an active and faithful member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, where she was a member of the choir and the Daughters of Zion Sunday school class. Darlene was very enthusiastic and devoted supporter of the Zion Community Nursery School, Manheim, where she served on the board and as an education assistant for many years. She volunteered many hours for the Manheim Food Bank, the Nearly-Nu Thrift Shop, Manheim, and at Luther Acres Retirement Community, Lititz. She was a member of the Manheim Historical Society. Her interests included: reading, flower gardening, knitting, crocheting, and both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Darlene had a passion for her family throughout her life, and she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons: Gary M., husband of Corby Slaugh Rambler, Douglas C., husband of Sharon Wirth Rambler, all of Manheim, a daughter, Cynthia J., wife of Roderick Frey Jr. of Mount Joy, six grandchildren: Lee, Devon, Brent, Ashley, Carley, and Rory; a great grandson, Gage, two brothers: Donald, husband of Pat Shank, Elwood W. Myers, and a sister, Betty Lou wife of Menno Stoner, all of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a brother, Ronald Myers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service from the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim, on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 3:00 PM with Pastor James W. Roth officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
