Daniel Douglas Graber

March 6, 1961 — September 10, 2012

Daniel Douglas "Doug" Graber, 51, of Mount Joy, died peacefully Monday September 10, 2012 at Lancaster General Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Robin (Moser) Graber, and they celebrated 11 years of marriage this past June. Born in Norfolk, NE, and raised in Minneapolis Minnesota, he was the son of the late Dorothy Jeanne (Ballard) Graber. "Doug" as he was known to his family and friends, was the service manager for the Whitmoyer Auto Group, Ford Division, of Mount Joy for many years and recently was service advisor for Chapman Ford in East Petersburg. A veteran, Doug proudly served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army for six years, and was a member of the Abel-Poff-Leithiser American Legion Post 469 of Wrightsville. Doug enjoyed cooking and grilling, and was well known by his friends for his "pounders" or "Dougie Burgers." An avid fresh water and ice fisherman, his time on the lake was more precious to him then the fish. He loved the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, but was also a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Nascar. He was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything. He was known for his wit, his sense of humor and was always the life of the party. He loved God, he loved his country and he loved his family and friends. He will be missed by many. Surviving in addition to his wife Robin is a daughter Abby Graber of Middletown; a son Andrew Graber of St. Petersburg, FL; a step-son Ian Gates of Elizabethtown; and a sister Sharon Larsen of Minneapolis, MN, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service with military honors at Heilig Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy PA on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. There will a time of visitation with his family on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow immediately after the service at the Mount Joy VFW. In lieu of flowers contributions in Doug's memory may be sent Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076.
