Colin L. Knowles

February 25, 1935 — September 22, 2013

Colin L. Knowles, 78, of Lancaster, and formerly of Baltimore, and Kalamazoo, MI. died on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born in Dayton, OH; he was the son of the late Frank and Evelyn Knowles. Colin was the husband of the late Janet L. Kreider Knowles who died in April of 2004. He served in the U.S. Army. Colin worked in health care in Respiratory Therapy area throughout his professional career. He was a technical director in the Respiratory School for the former St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lancaster, and later became the director of the Respiratory Department at Baltimore City Hospital. Colin was last employed as a shift supervisor for Respiratory Care at the Hershey Medical Center. He was a 1952 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. He was a passionate fan of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team, the Baltimore Ravens and the University of Maryland football teams.
Surviving is a daughter, Debra Knowles, three sons: Brian husband of Cindy Knowles, Douglas Knowles, Richard Knowles, three sisters: Mary Ray, Shirley Fields, and Norma wife of Larry Jones. Preceding him in death are two sisters: Myrtle and Alberta.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Colin’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
