Carl Frederick Kreider

Carl F. Kreider, 66, of Manheim, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 26, 2010 at Hospice Of Lancaster County, Mount Joy following a battle with brain cancer.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Carl Eby Kreider and Alma Kreider Denlinger. Carl was the loving husband of Rachel Charles Kreider and they observed their 27th wedding anniversary in June of this year. He was known as Fred to his family, and was a 1962 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. Carl enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 and served aboard the USS Enterprise. After 34 years, Carl retired from Armstrong World Industries, Lancaster, and purchased a 1957 Ford Skyliner Retractable relic. After a 6-year restoration of it, he enjoyed taking friends and family for rides and traveled to display the beautiful car at shows. He was a member of the International Ford Retractable Club and president of the East Coast Chapter. An avid runner, Carl received many awards at competitive races. In 1983 he ran the Boston Marathon. Also a strong bicycle rider, he was a member of the Lancaster Bicycle club. He participated in bike tours in Europe, Ireland, Canada, and throughout the USA. Twice he rode from CA., to FL. He was a faithful member of Grace Church, Lititz and was active with the First Impression Team. Carl also served with the Bill Glass Prison Ministry Team.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Brian Charles husband of Amy Weaver Charles, a cherished granddaughter, Samantha, and a sister, Betsy Graver.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service from Grace Church 501 West Lincoln Avenue, Lititz, on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor William Willard and Pastor Glen Sell officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
