Arlene Sauder

June 22, 1943 — November 25, 2010

Arlene Sauder, 67, of Stevens Street, Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy surrounded by her husband and children.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Phares H. and Mabel Wenger Moyer. Arlene worked for S. Clyde Weaver in East Petersburg for thirty-one years and supervised the bakery department. She was the loving wife of Norman L. Sauder and they observed their 48th wedding anniversary in March of this year. Arlene was an active and faithful member of the East Petersburg Mennonite Church where she served on the kitchen committee, womens sewing circle and volunteered for short-term mission projects. She and her husband served on the board for the Mennonite and Brethren Marriage Encounter. Her interests included camping, reading, traveling with her husband, and exercising at Curves. Arlene was passionate about her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and always made holidays very special.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: J. Donald husband of Twila Miller Sauder of Mount Joy, Carl E. husband of Donna Miller Sauder of Pataskala, OH., Richard L. husband of Debra Good Sauder of Bainbridge; two daughters: Jean L. wife of Neal Benedict of East Petersburg, Rhonda L. Sauder of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; twenty grandchildren; two sisters: Miriam wife of Ray Shenk of Lititz, Julia wife of Paul Clugston of Halifax; a brother Marlin Moyer of Manheim and a step mother, Erla Moyer of Manheim.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the East Petersburg Mennonite Church 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Sunday afternoon from3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with additional viewing on Monday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Arlenes memory to Hospice of Lancaster County P. O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
