Arlene R. Ecenrode

November 9, 1929 — March 24, 2012

Arlene R. Ecenrode, 82, formerly of Conestoga Avenue, Manheim, went to her Heavenly home unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Mabel Saylor Ruhl. Arlene was employed by various area cleaning companies in the Lancaster County area and by the former Donegal Industries in Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late Monroe M. "Eckie" Ecenrode who died in 2003. Arlene was a member of Ruhl's United Methodist Church, Manheim. Arlene's interests included needle work, camping and traveling to the family cabin in Perry County. She had a life-long passion for her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters: Beverly A., wife of Richard E. Stoner of Elizabethtown, Linda M. Myers of Manheim, three sons: James M., husband of Judith A. Greiner Ecenrode of Lititz, Steven R., husband of Sharon K. Shenk Ecenrode of Manheim, Kevin L., husband of Theresa A. Best Ecenrode of Lititz, 12 grandchildren: Barb, Tina, Josh, Amy, Tami, Shannon, Shane, Kevin Jr., David, Cody, Derek, Zachary, 10 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Justin, Brianna, Brady, Camryn, Lilly, Conner, Soren, Kadyn, Mason, and a sister, Grace, wife of Victor Witmeyer of Jacksonville, FL. Preceding her in death is a son-in-law, Ronald "Punkin" Myers, three brothers: Elwood, Chester, and Warren Ruhl, and three sisters: Ethel Barnes, Verna Fink, and Alverta Tome. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Arlene's memorial service at the Ruhl's United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
