Rufus K. Geib

Rufus K. Geib, 89, of Manheim, died peacefully at Pleasant View Retirement Community on Monday, May 24, 2010.

Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late LeRoy T. and Ada Kile Geib. Starting in 1946, Rufus was the first School Bus contractor for the Manheim Central School district operating Rufus K. Geib Bus Service that continues in operation by his family today. Rufus graduated from Reppert School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Indiana in 1956; and was a local auctioneer, conducting many local auctions in Lancaster County. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Rufus was the loving husband of Anna Shelley Geib who died in March of 1984. He was a member of the East Fairview Church Of The Brethren, Manheim, and a charter member of the Mastersonville Volunteer Fire Company. For over fifty years Rufus was a member of the Manheim Masonic Lodge 587, and held Masonic memberships with: Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Reading Consistory, Tall Cedars Of Lebanon, Lancaster County Shrine Club, Rajah Shriners of Reading, and Shriners International. Other memberships included: Mount Joy American Legion Post 185, Manheim V.F.W. Post 5956, Happy Hunters Hunting Club, Skull-Duggers Association Manheim, and a former member of the Manheim Lions Club. Rufus enjoyed traveling to the beach and golfing in his later years.

Surviving is a daughter, Joyce E. wife of Burnell Shenk of Manheim a son, Gerald S. husband of Linda Herr Geib of Manheim, three grandchildren: Matthew Shenk, Curtis Shenk, Linette Geib, and four great grandchildren. Preceding him in death is a brother, Orville Geib, and a sister, Arlene Geib Ruhl.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from the East Fairview Church Of The Brethren 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jimm A. Roland officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
