Richard Seacrist "Dick" Givens

Richard S. “Dick” Givens, 80, formerly of York, died peacefully, Monday May 6, 2013 at the Masonic Village Health Care Center, Elizabethtown, PA. He was the husband of Esther E. (Frock) Givens of Elizabethtown, and they would have been married 60 years in August. Born in York, he was the son of the late Benjamin, Sr. and Gertrude (Seacrist) Givens. He was a salesman in the Harrisburg, Lancaster, and York area for various companies. He was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School, class of 1950. Dick was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, York, where he was a former deacon, elder, and president of the Consistory. He was a member of William A Snyder Lodge # 756 F & AM of Harrisburg for 50 years, Harrisburg Consistory, and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forest #30.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Susan C. Givens and Beverly J. Givens both of Red Lion; a son Stephen E. Givens, Sr. (Robin) of Sanford, Maine; two grandsons Justin B. Stoyer (Tracy) of Lumberton NC, and Stephen E. Givens, Jr. of Berwick, Maine. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Patricia Ann, a brother Benjamin M. Givens, Jr. and two sisters Olive Gibson and Phyllis Anna Winkelman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Zion United Church of Christ, 100 Lafayette St. York PA on Friday May 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation with the family on Friday at the church from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in Dick’s memory may be sent to Masonic Village, Office of Gift Planning, Fraternal Care Fund, 1 Masonic Dr. Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
