Richard O. Shearer

Richard O. Shearer, 76, of Manheim, formerly of Elizabethtown and Mount Joy, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday May 2, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Ruth Ann (Weidman) Shearer who died in 2005. Born in Rapho Twp. He was the son of the late Allen B. and Edna G. (Ober) Shearer. Richard retired in 2000 after 36 years of service at Alcoa in Lancaster. He was a faithful member of Mount Joy Church of God, and enjoyed auctions, antiques and miniature trucks, and old cars.

Surviving are four children, Joyce E. wife of Dale Ulrich of Manheim, Richard A. of Reinholds, Bonnie S. wife of Carl Saxton of Lancaster, Michael L. husband of Jody (Jeffries) Shearer of Manheim; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister Ruth A. wife of John Bartgis of Mount Joy, and a brother J. Allen of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by two sisters Elsie Witmer and Anna Mae Frey, and three brothers. Harold, Stanley, and David Shearer.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Mount Joy Church of God, 30 East Main Street, Mount Joy, PA on Monday May 6, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Milton Grove Cemetery. There will be a public viewing on Sunday at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy, PA from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and also at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
