Reverend Dr. William Richard "Dick" Foster Jr.

May 8, 1930 — August 19, 2018

Reverend Dr. W. Richard “Dick” Foster Jr., 88, of New Holland, and formerly of Philadelphia, died peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Garden Spot Village. Born in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late William R. and Ruth VanHorn Foster. He was the loving husband of Deanna K. “Dee” Kulesky Foster and they observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in January of this year. A veteran, he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Dick graduated from Trenton Central High School; he later received an Engineering Degree from the University of Delaware. He continued his education receiving a Master of Divinity Degree from Princeton University, and concluded his studies with a Doctorate Degree in Ministry from Eastern University in Philadelphia. In his early years he worked as an engineer for U.S. Steel Company. But his main passion throughout his life was ministry, where he served in ministry for over 50 years. Dick was the lead pastor at Rhawnhurst Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, for over 40 years; he later served as pastor in Morrisville Presbyterian Church, and at First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, until his retirement. Dick loved to travel; he and his wife traveled extensively, escorting tour groups with destinations all over the world. His heart was always to humbly serve the Lord and to care for others.

Surviving in addition to his wife Dee are two sons: David J. husband of Kristine Foster of Ephrata, Daniel J. Foster of South Carolina, and six grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Jonathan, Melissa, Brandon and Kirei.
