Norman D. Ober

Norman D. Ober, 90, of Manheim passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Stella Keefer Ober. He was the husband of the late Bettie I. Rohrer Ober who died in 2003. Norman retired from John E. Fullerton Inc., Elizabethtown after thirty-two years. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WW II. Norman was an active and faithful member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim where he served as an usher, trustee and was very helpful in the church kitchen and with electrical work. He was also a member of the Manheim Sportsman’s Association. His interests included hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and mowing grass with his push mower. He went on mission trips and also enjoyed spending time in Potter County at his cabin he built. Norman loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving is a son, Larry E. husband of Rebecca Frey Ober of Manheim, two daughters, Donna M. Landis Sipe wife of Robert E. Sipe of Mount Joy, Bonnie L. Manning wife of Steve A. Manning of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, four grandchildren, Timothy, Danelle, Carrie, Kyle and three great grandchildren, Eden, Isaiah and Chase. He is also survived by his companion Lois Y. Snavely of Manheim. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Samuel and Howard Ober and two sisters, Martha Mull and Grace Nye.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. Please omit flowers.
