Joanne E. Moyer

Joanne E. “Joey” Moyer, 64, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February, 27, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster. Born in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Donald S. and Melitta Eichhorn Hontz. Joey was the wife of the late Melvin E. Moyer who died in 1997. For over 30 years Joey worked as a beautician and was the owner and operator of Joey’s Beauty Shop in Manheim. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. Joey enjoyed knitting and drawing. She had a life-long passion for animals, and loved taking care of her beloved Samoyed dogs, and her parrot named Indy.
Surviving is a son, Craig S. Moyer of Manheim, two sisters: Kathy E. wife of Merv Moyer of Manheim, Shirley L. Nissley of Englewood, Fl., and a brother, Donald S. husband of Stacy Hontz of Manheim.
The family will receive friends at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2013, from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
