Isabelle Messersmith

March 30, 1923 — February 22, 2010

Isabelle Messersmith, 86, formerly of Mount Joy, died Monday February 22, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, Lancaster. She was the widow of the late Steven Messersmith who died in 1989. Born in Rotterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Armanda (Douglas) Arkett. Isabelle was a LPN for many years at various places, and worked as a press operator at the New Standard Corp. of Mount Joy for many years before retiring. In her earlier years she attended the Crossroad Brethren in Christ Church in Mount Joy. Isabelle enjoyed gardening, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Surviving are three sons, Robert husband of Susan Messersmith of Hummelstown, Charles Messersmith of Columbia, James husband of Kimberly Messersmith of Bainbridge; three daughters, Ida May Velez of Lancaster, Lois Brophy of Philadelphia, Ellen Weidman of Mount Joy; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son Roger, two daughters Nina Rosewall and Audrey Ballard, and a grandson Thomas Rosewall.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Heilig Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St., Mount Joy, PA on Thursday February 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Chaplain Dorothy Harnish officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions in Isabelles memory may be sent to Asera Care Hospice, 315 Primrose Lane, Suite 101, Mountville PA 17554.
