Elmer K. Wittle

March 26, 1915 — April 12, 2010

Elmer K. Wittle, 95, of Masonic Village Elizabethtown, died Monday April 12, 2010 of natural causes at his residence. He was the husband of Lillian (Welfley) Wittle.

Born in Mount Joy, he was the son of the late John and Mattie (Koser) Wittle. Elmer was one of fourteen children, and was a graduate of the former Maytown High School and the Bowman Watch School of Lancaster. Elmer proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Elmer was a certified watchmaker and had worked for the Hamilton Watch Co. of Lancaster, and was an electrician at Masonic Village. After retirement he still looked after the grandfather clocks at Masonic Village. He was a member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church of Mount Joy, and a member of Ashara-Casiphia #551 F AM of Mount Joy. Elmer and his wife Lillian enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and he enjoyed repairing watches for neighbors and friends in his free time.

Surviving in addition to his wife Lillian is a brother Ralph Wittle of Glen Mills PA ; a sister Elizabeth Goodling of Mount Joy; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service on Friday April 16, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from the John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, on the grounds at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown with Pastor Mark Moore officiating. Interment will be in Chiques Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Twp. There will be a public viewing on Friday at Sell Chapel from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
