Amos S. Weidman

June 17, 1927 — March 8, 2011

Reverend Amos S. Weidman, 83, of Manheim, died peacefully and went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Falmouth, he was the son of the late Hossler and Mary Sipling Weidman. Amos was the loving husband of the late Martha E. Binkley Weidman who died in 2008. Amos was elected as a minister in 1954, and as Bishop in 1969, of the United Zion Church. He was a member of the United Zion Church of Elizabethtown. Amos was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a machinist at Fenner Drives of Manheim for 52 years; earlier in his life he was a farmer and auctioneer. His interests included: hunting, fishing, and riding the lawnmower with his grandchildren. He had a lifelong passion for reading. Surviving are two sons: Thomas B. husband of Kathleen Lausch Weidman of Lititz, Barry L. husband of Sue Bruckhart Weidman of Manheim; two daughters, Candy Lynn wife of Kenneth Snyder of Manheim, Lara wife of Jason Osborn of Rothsville; a niece, Donna Jean wife of Robert Mohr of Manheim, nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert H. Weidman of Lancaster. Preceding him in death are three sisters: Luella Moyer, Betty Eitnier, Arlene Gantz, and a brother, Ray Weidman. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the East Fairview Church of the Brethren 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing on Thursday evening at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., with additional viewing on Friday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the church.
